From Smart Stethoscope to Early Disease Detection

The world of medicine had gone digital—except the stethoscope.

For over a century, it remained analog, even as every other instrument in healthcare evolved.

Then came Eko.

An incredible product and technology built not to reinvent the stethoscope, but to elevate what it could hear. Originally designed to enhance the auditory experience and capture high-fidelity recordings, it quickly became much more.

From sound to signal, they acquired millions of recordings across hundreds of thousands of clinicians.

Then, of course, the breakthrough dataset.

With millions of heart sounds across captured across primary care settings worldwide—training FDA-cleared AI capable of detecting disease earlier and more accurately than ever before.

Peer-reviewed studies proved what clinicians were already seeing:

Eko’s AI achieved detection rates more than 2× higher than conventional screening protocols, dramatically improving the early detection of heart failure and helping reduce missed diagnoses and emergency admissions.

This is where our work began.

We led the strategic repositioning and built a new identity, digital presence, and brand world to reflect their evolution—from a hardware company to a precision health platform built for earlier disease detection.

It started by defining five imperatives that guided every brand decision:
– Reposition from hardware-first to early disease detection.
– Center the Eko+ app as a powerful membership ecosystem.
– Avoid AI-washing. Build credibility through clinical proof.
– Anchor the voice in technical warmth—precise, human, and purpose-driven.
– Design for both enterprise scale and everyday trust.

These weren’t goals
